The Spider Fly is a simple yet effective terrestrial pattern that mimics the delicate silhouette of a spider on the water. With its long, spindly legs and minimalistic body, it is particularly useful during late summer and fall when spiders are commonly blown onto the water’s surface. Its realistic profile tempts trout, panfish, and even bass into striking.

When fishing the Spider Fly, cast it close to overhanging trees, bushes, or grassy banks where spiders naturally fall into the water. Allow the fly to drift freely with the current, as its lifelike legs will entice fish. If no strikes occur, try giving the fly a small twitch to simulate a struggling spider.
