Description
The Yankee Buzzer was created by Rob Kolanda, a Colorado-based competitive angler and guide at Front Range Anglers in Boulder. It was later commercialized through Solitude Fly Company, which helped spread its popularity across the U.S. stillwater fishing scene. Kolanda designed it for tough midge-feeding trout in reservoirs, tailwaters, and spring creeks, where subtle yet effective imitations are needed. The pattern reflects his competition background—slim, fast-sinking, and built for precision presentations.
Pro Tip
Grease only the tippet and hackle, not the fly body. This makes the fly sit correctly in the film rather than ride high unnaturally.
