The User Friendly, designed by Andrew Grillos, is a synthetic mayfly pattern developed to address the common shortcomings of traditional low-riding mayfly imitations. Grillos sought to create a fly that not only sits lower in the water for a more natural look but also offers increased durability and visibility—two features often lacking in other mayfly patterns. The result is a fly that floats like a cork, making it easy to spot in both flat and fast-moving water, while maintaining a realistic low-profile body that gives fish a better, more convincing presentation.

Twitch for a Natural Effect: When fish are feeding on mayflies that have just broken the surface, twitch the fly gently with short, erratic strips to mimic an emerging nymph struggling to break free.
