Description

The Twisted Worm, designed by signature fly tyer Josh Smitherman, is a unique and highly effective variation of the traditional worm imitation. Smaller than most worm patterns, the Twisted Worm is specifically crafted to drop quickly in the water, making it an excellent choice for fast-moving currents and deep water. One of its standout features is the use of Spanflex, a highly durable material that ensures the fly holds up well even after repeated strikes. The addition of UV resin on the bottom of the fly serves two purposes: it fills the slot in the tungsten bead to improve the fly’s sink rate and protects the bead’s color, preventing it from dulling after constant contact with rocks.

Pro Tip

Focus on Areas with Strong Currents: The Twisted Worm’s ability to drop quickly makes it ideal for fishing in faster currents. Target deeper runs or riffles where worms are naturally swept along the bottom. Allow the fly to sink and drift with the current to mimic a worm being carried downstream.
