Description
The Trico Female Spinner is a lifelike imitation of the female Tricorythodes mayflies during their spinner falls, a critical food source for trout in late summer mornings. Female Tricos are distinguishable by their lighter abdomens, often pale olive to gray, and thoraxes that range from gray to dark gray. This fly pattern replicates their delicate spent-wing posture as they drift lifelessly on the water’s surface.
Pro Tip
Grease the Leader Tip: Apply a small amount of floatant to the leader up to 6 inches above the fly to keep it suspended in the surface film. Avoid floatant on the fly itself, as it should ride naturally flush with the water, mimicking a lifeless spinner.
