Titan Tube Midge

The Titan Tube Midge, designed by Landon Mayer, is a larger and more sophisticated version of the classic Tube Midge. Specifically created to mimic chironomids, a crucial food source for fish in still waters, the Titan is a standout in the Tube Midge family. Unlike its smaller counterparts, the Titan uses clear Micro Tubing to house two color wraps of small wire, creating the appearance of a midge trapped in its pupal case. The fly's design includes three wraps of two different wire colors near the hook bend to secure the tubing and maintain its slim, realistic profile. Available in sizes ranging from #12 to #16, this fly excels in representing chironomid larvae and pupa, making it ideal for stillwater fishing where these midges are abundant.

Use Light Tippet and a Long Leader: To maintain the delicate and subtle presentation of the Titan Tube Midge, use a light tippet (6X or lighter) and a long leader (10-12 feet). This helps to ensure that the fly drifts naturally without any drag, which is essential when fishing for wary trout that are feeding on midges.
