The Stunted Sally, created by Umpqua Signature tyer Scott Newman, is a durable and effective imitation of the Yellow Sally stonefly. Developed after observing the limitations of existing patterns during a fishing trip, Newman sought to design a fly that could withstand the rigors of fast-moving water while maintaining a realistic profile. By incorporating micro tubing threaded with wire for the body and a distinctive hot pink thorax, the Stunted Sally not only mimics the natural insect but also enhances visibility, prompting fish to move farther to take the fly. This pattern has become a staple in many anglers' fly boxes, serving as a reliable attractor during Yellow Sally hatches

Eddy Exploitation: Cast the Stunted Sally into the swirling currents of eddies, allowing it to drift naturally. The erratic flow will animate the fly, mimicking the behavior of a disoriented stonefly, which can entice opportunistic trout lurking in these areas.
