Stalcup's Mysis

The Stalcup's Mysis Shrimp is a fly pattern designed to imitate Mysis shrimp, a primary food source for trout in tailwater rivers and lakes. Developed by fly designer Shane Stalcup, this pattern is effective in various sizes, particularly in sizes 16 and 18.

Let the fly sink and drift naturally with the current. Use a slow, steady retrieve with occasional pauses to let the fly imitate a shrimp drifting or struggling. If fish are hesitant, try adding short twitches to create a more erratic motion, which can trigger strikes from wary fish.
