Description

The Muddle May is a dry fly pattern developed by renowned fly tyer Al Beatty in 1987, Mr. Beatty created this patter after completing a custom order of Muddler Minnows and thought "Why not put a clipped head on a Mayfly imitation", After experimenting with several body styles the Muddle May was born. A terrific dry pattern that can be used as a drowned Mayfly. Cream and Olive in sizes 16-20 work best for most hatches.

Pro Tip

Mr. Beatty likes to fish this fly like a small streamer or wet fly, in a dead drift. He lets it swing around and let it drag across the water. False cast a few times to dry it out for the next drift.
