Mr. Jones Cranefly

The Mr. Jones Cranefly is a dry fly pattern developed by renowned fly tyer Charlie Craven to effectively imitate adult craneflies. Inspired by the natural behavior of craneflies skimming across the water's surface, Craven combined elements from his previous patterns, notably the Lucky B and Screaming Banshee, to create a fly that not only replicates the insect's profile but also its distinctive skating and hopping movements. This design has proven particularly effective during warm summer months when craneflies are most active

Cast the Mr. Jones downstream and across, then hold your rod tip high to make the fly skate and hop across the water's surface. This mimics the natural movement of craneflies and can trigger aggressive strikes from trout.
