Mike's Pecs Sculpin

Mike's Pecs, designed by Mike Williams, is a 2.5-inch articulated sculpin imitation that effectively mimics the natural profile and movement of sculpins, a common prey for trout. The fly features a grizzly marabou tail, an Ice Dub body, realistic dumbbell eyes, and a rabbit fur head. Partridge or schlappen feathers are used to accentuate the enlarged pectoral fins characteristic of sculpins, enhancing its lifelike appearance. Available in olive and golden brown, this pattern has proven irresistible to trout across various water conditions

Dead-Drift Tactic: Cast upstream and allow the Pec Sculpin to dead-drift along the riverbed without adding movement. Trout often attack sculpins when they appear stunned or lifeless, especially in tailouts of riffles. Use a fluorocarbon leader to minimize drag and enhance stealth.
