The MEGALOPSICLE, designed by Umpqua Signature Tyer Dave Student, is a high-performance tarpon fly known for its ability to attract and trigger strikes from one of the most sought-after species in saltwater fly fishing. The fly's name, "Megalops," is derived from the scientific name for tarpon, Megalops atlanticus, while "sicle" references its sleek and streamlined design, which mimics the look of a baitfish in distress. Dave Student developed this fly with tarpon in mind, using a mix of materials to create a realistic yet flashy profile that moves beautifully through the water.
