Chan's Las Vegas Booby Leech

The Las Vegas Booby Leech, designed by Brian Chan, is a buoyant and versatile fly pattern ideal for targeting trout in stillwater environments. This fly features a marabou tail that moves enticingly in the water, mimicking leeches, minnows, or other small aquatic prey. Its body, crafted with Estaz, adds subtle flash to catch a fish's attention while maintaining a natural profile. The fly’s standout feature is its foam cylinder eyes, which provide buoyancy and a unique hovering action, suspending the fly just above weed beds or along the bottom.

When fishing near weed beds, use a floating line and a long leader (10–12 feet) to maintain the fly at a precise depth, effectively targeting trout hiding in submerged vegetation.
