The Bizzaro Jerry, designed by Umpqua Signature Tyer Zach VanDeHey, is a creative twist on the classic prince nymph, developed after VanDeHey noticed fish in a river system becoming more wary of traditional patterns. This oversized, jigged version of the prince nymph includes key modifications to trigger more aggressive strikes. The addition of a hot spot enhances its attractiveness, while rubber legs and CDC feathers provide extra movement, mimicking the natural motions of a stonefly or green drake nymph. Combining elements of a prince nymph, stonefly, and green drake, the Bizzaro Jerry is a unique, versatile fly that stands out as both an attractor and a realistic food source, perfect for fishing in waters where fish have become accustomed to more conventional offerings.
